Like all roofs, also green roofs should be checked twice a year. Remove all unwanted plants, tree seedlings and any branches blown by the wind from the roof. Leaves and needles can be removed with a blower. Also, make sure that large plants cannot spread into the building’s ventilation openings.
Check critical parts of the roof, such as upturns and penetrations, with particular care. Remove debris and substrate material from the roof drains, and ensure unobstructed water drainage. Any water standing on the roof can drown and kill vegetation.
If necessary, green roofs are fertilised according to plant-specific instructions.
After the installation, green roofs should be watered at least a couple of times a week. During dry periods, green roofs are watered as necessary.
